Sephiria Review & Verdict
A post-launch take on the action roguelite from TEAM HORAY, the studio behind Dungreed.
What it is
Sephiria is a pixel-art, top-down action roguelite about descent and builds, made by TEAM HORAY (the Korean studio behind Dungreed) and self-published. You play a brave bunny descending a collapsing tower to save Bunnyville from a demon horde. You fight downward through procedurally shifting floors, collect and arrange Artifacts, master six weapons, and unlock permanent Talents after each run. It left Early Access for its 1.0 launch on July 31, 2026.
Strengths
- The studio pedigree is real. TEAM HORAY's tactile action sense carries over from Dungreed — it feels crafted, not generated.
- The build system has depth. The Artifact & Tablet grid turns inventory management into the core power fantasy, with real synergies to discover.
- Replayable runs. Random floors, 60+ enemies, 10+ bosses, and six weapons with 50+ upgrades each give lots to chase.
- Low spec, wide reach. A 2 GB install and a modest minimum GPU mean almost any recent PC or Apple Silicon Mac can run it.
Weaknesses
- Not cross-platform. Co-op is Steam online only, so friends on other ecosystems can't join.
- Depends on your tolerance for grinding. Like any roguelite, repeat deaths and Sapphire farming are the loop; it won't suit players who want a hand-held campaign.
- Depth is in the grid, not the story. The rescue-Bunnyville premise is charming but light; the joy is mechanical, not narrative.
Who should buy
- ✅ Fans of action roguelites (Enter the Gungeon, Skul, Hades-likes) who love build optimization.
- ✅ Players who want a lightweight game that runs on almost anything.
- ✅ Groups of up to 4 who want a co-op descent with revives.
- ❌ Players wanting a story-driven, single-playthrough experience.
- ❌ Anyone needing cross-platform co-op.
Verdict
At its $14.99 launch price, Sephiria is an easy recommend for roguelite fans. It won't replace a narrative epic, but as a "one more descent" build puzzle it's among the more polished of its kind in 2026. Buy it if you like tuning a build and chasing permanent power.
